Overview
Arcadis seeks a nationally recognized Senior Structures Construction Manager - High Speed Rail that has successfully managed billion-dollar, heavy civil transportation projects to join our team in Selma, CA. Must be able to work onsite in Selma, CA. Arcadis provides Project and Construction Management Services to oversee the Design-Build for Construction of the California High-Speed Rail System (System) in California's Central Valley. In this Senior Structures Construction Manager role, you will serve as the on-site client representative on site and is responsible for the management, managerial oversight, administration, and coordination of the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction.
Role accountabilities
- Coordinate and manage people, materials, and equipment as well as the contractor's compliance with the client's safety policies and conducting safety assessments as required by the client.
- Manage all field operations and work sequence to report to the Project Manager.
- Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay of production
- Oversee coordination with project staff to outline work plans, assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
- Review status and modify schedules or plans as required and prepares project reports for management and owners
- Determine that the work of the contractor is performed in accordance with the construction contract, project plans, and specifications, and all other contract documents and amendments thereto to guard against defects and deficiencies in the contractor's work.
- Ability to build trust and partnership with the client. Executive "presence" – soft skills in addition to deep Project and Construction Management experience
- As the lead construction manager, ability to effectively interface with the client, program manager, design-builder, and numerous 3rd parties
- Ability to manage conflict smoothly and unemotionally; ability to build trust with project sponsors and stakeholders
- History of managing large teams well; success with team performance, morale, roles / responsibilities, and collaboration
- Technical expertise : Earthworks, utilities, grade separations, bridge structures, environmental clearances / permits, Caltrans civil and structures processes
- Managed mega programs / projects ($1B+) involving design-build
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management or Construction Contracting of Complex Heavy Civil Engineering projects; including rail projects10+ years of heavy civil construction and project management experience5+ years of Resident Engineer acting as the Principal / Owner's Representative in the management of Major Construction Contracts of at least $1B in construction costsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, related field or equivalent work experienceKey Skills And Attributes
Results-focusedSeasoned claims avoidance and dispute resolutionExperience managing alternative delivery projectsThorough understanding of Caltrans civil and structural criteria and review process, NEPA / CEQA practices, FTA construction practices, AREMA Standards, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), local Regional Rail Authorities and state Public Utilities Commission regulations governing railroads, and work effectively with numerous state and federal regulatory agencies and 3rd parties.Willingness to perform the duties as the full-time, on-site Project / Construction Manager as the day-to-day liaison to the client, overseeing the activities of the Arcadis PCM team. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $152,000 - $240,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
