The Center on Intern

ational Cooperation (CIC) at New York University seeks a Program Associagte (Researcher) tosupport ongoing research, as well as supports the development of new research agendas and contributes to the development of reports, fact sheets and other written publications under the close supervision and guidance of the Program Director, Associate Director, and / or Senior Program officer. The program associate also supports all aspects of program development and implementation, including day to day program budgeting and reporting duties, the program calendar(s), and other administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all phases of the research process (design, execution, analysis, and writing) for reports, publications, project and funding proposals, and events, including but not limited to running scans of existing literature, distilling summaries of books and papers, suggesting new evidence sources, and examining linkages across research fields under the close guidance and supervision of Senior Staff
  • Assist the Associate Director or Director and the rest of the team with researching, scheduling, organizing, and executing substantive, research-based, advocacy and policy-related meetings, events, and conference calls, taking substantive notes and drafting substantive summaries, invitations, and agendas,
  • managing grants and donor relations including substantive discussions, planning, budgeting, and substantive grant reporting.

Support the program implementation and research agenda, working within the team for policy research initiatives, including event preparation through the preparation of policy briefs and background research; attend, identify, and report on key findings on meetings relevant to the Prevention and Peacebuilding team.

At the direction of senior leadership, research and write blogs, newsletter items, internal memos on a range of relevant peacebuilding, prevention, socio-economic and political issues, and website content to promote key findings from the Prevention, Peacebuilding, and Protracted Crises team's policy research and recommendations; vetting research and publications prior to distribution through promotion on social media and in other communications activities.

Assist in the financial management of the research program, by monitoring expenditures, working on grant proposals and donor reports; and working with CIC colleagues to prepare financial review and grant reporting. Assist in managing logistics of the research program, by making travel arrangements, contracting and liaising with translators, printers, photographers and other external service providers. Maintain and update internal processes and systems.

Required Education

  • ? Bachelor Degree.
  • Required Experience

  • ? Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • ? Knowledge of or experience of relevant national and international policy and implementation, or national and international partners working on this topic and their tools and instruments.
  • ? Good organizational, logistics, and project management skills, including administrative management
  • ? Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ? Demonstrated interest and capability in managing research related tasks and / or events execution.
  • ? Proven ability to prioritize a wide range of assignments and consistently deliver at a high level of quality in high pressure, fast-paced environments;
  • ? Fluency in English is required, along with excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to write in a variety of styles and for a range of audiences (academic reports, policy briefs, high-level correspondence, public newsletters, etc.)
  • ? A professional attitude, a team-player, working respectfully and productively with colleagues, with a positive approach and a growth mindset and in accordance with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles.
  • ? Interest in taking on a wide range of research and office tasks essential to executing the program.
  • ? Proven ability to prioritize a wide range of assignments and consistently deliver at a high level of quality in high pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • ? Capable with many different types of software and other professional tools, including Microsoft Office.
  • ? Ability to undertake travel, including under sometimes challenging circumstances.
  • ? Takes accountability for all aspects of assigned work and proactively seeks out guidance where needed.
  • Preferred Education

  • ? Master?s degree in a relevant field
  • Preferred Experience

  • ? Exposure to work in low and middle-income countries is desirable.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • ? Familiar with social research methods and approaches
  • ? Experience working for an international NGO, the UN or in an academic setting.
  • ? Fluency in another UN language strongly preferred. Other non-UN languages considered an asset.
  • ? Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills to engage with key stakeholders as needed.
  • ? Previous experience working in culturally diverse settings or international organizations
  • Additional Information

    In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $60,500 to $75,500. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
