- Full Time : 40 hours / week
- Hours : Hours vary - Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm)
What you will do :
Provide skilled front office and clinical support to the physician practice and serve as a liaison between the physician and patient to coordinate care. When required, provides direct patient care by working collaboratively with the care team. Functions as a member of the patient's ambulatory care team while delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring patient safety, privacy and loyalty. Provide healthcare services under the direction of the Practice Manager and / or designee, and physicians in the NCH Medical Group.
Document accurately in the EMR and adhere to patient confidentiality standardsObtain / verify medical history, medications, allergies, reason for visit, etc.Accurate collection and documentation of vital signs with special attention to the geriatric, neonatal and pediatric patients; prepare patients for physician visitUtilize the standardized rooming patient protocol in EPIC to complete all required documentation fields including medical history, reason for visit, and questionnairesExplain NCH MyChart and guide patient through NCH MyChart activationAdminister medications per physician ordersPerform EKGs, spirometry testing, and other office performed tests per physician orders and by following documented competenciesDistribute post-care direction(s) prepared by physician to patientAssist in procedures as needed including room set up, preparation and clean upEnsure supplies are maintained for each practitionerAssist with obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications as neededAbstract clinical information into Epic at the direction of the physician or practice managerEnsure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas such as patient rooms and laboratoryPerform clinic inventory tracking, stocking, audit expiration dates of all patient care itemsObtain medical records from non-NCH facilitiesCreate and open orders per protocol or as directed by providerAnswer all incoming telephone calls to the office and handle each as appropriate, in accordance with NorthShore telephone customer service standardsTake accurate and complete messages according to protocolsFollow-up on patient issues as appropriateConfirm / update & distribute call schedule; notify answering service, & internal on-call system, etc.Provide timely responses to NCH MyChart messages and appointment requests & other In Basket messagesComplete prescription refills as per practice protocolAs directed, communicate test results & other information to patients via NCH MyChart or telephoneWhat you will need :
Education : High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required.Certification : BLS / CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider requiredExperience : Minimum 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.Benefits :
