Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position with strong C-section and Cerner charting experience in an acute Level 1 Trauma Center.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Unit includes 18 LDRP rooms, 14 OB triage beds, 8 Antepartum beds, and 2 fully equipped OR suites for C-sections
  • Patient ratio is generally 2 : 1, varies by acuity; Antepartum up to 4 : 1 and C-section may be 1 : 1
  • Average deliveries are 8-10 per day, serving gestations of 28 weeks and greater
  • Night shifts from 1900-0700, 12-hour shifts
  • Four weekend shifts per schedule required
  • Floating may be required to MB / PP or to a sister facility
  • Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link EFM system
  • Circulate and recover C-section patients independently
  • Titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate infusions per protocol
  • No nurse aides are assigned to the unit
  • OB hospitalists, anesthesia, IV team, RT, and pharmacy are available 24 / 7
  • Blue scrubs are required
  • Team includes 13 charge nurses for support
  • Holiday coverage is welcomed if required
  • Candidates must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at submission
  • Minimum of 4 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications required
  • Proven experience managing and recovering C-sections required
  • Must have computer charting experience, Cerner experience strongly preferred
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with at least 80% before offer (maximum 2 attempts)
  • Must pass a simulation lab on day 1 of orientation
  • References required : one supervisor within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
