Under general supervision, provide technical, scientific, and organizational assistance support in operation of the laboratory research activities focused on physiological and behavioral research. Assist and support research projects on behalf of PIs and collaborators, post docs and graduate students active in physiological and behavioral laboratory. Work closely with the immediate supervisor and other laboratory personnel daily regarding all aspects of tasks and responsibilities. Review and evaluate procedures to confirm they are performed in a timely and effective manner and according to laboratory protocols, and that samples and data are collected and stored; order and maintain supplies. Maintain working relationships with other laboratory members; and follow UCD and Primate Center guidelines in performing tasks and consult supervisor regularly on activities and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position

• Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science / Behavior or Neuroscience.
• Experience working in a research laboratory in the areas of genetics, molecular or cellular biology, or related research fields including in vitro and in vivo models.
• Experience with computer applications for transcribing raw data and entering and analyzing sample / research results. This is to also include experience in performing laboratory techniques and analyzing products using different types of analytical systems.
• Experience with translational research including sterile techniques, collection of specimens, and tissue or cell culture. Must provide experience working in a laboratory and with concepts, principles, and conduct of research.
• Mathematical skills to prepare detailed written data summaries.
• Knowledge of chemicals and requirements for safe handling procedures.
• Skills to follow specific protocols for data collection and follow GLP standards.

Perform assigned duties in BioSafety Level 2+ facilities where non-human primates may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous infectious agents such as SIV, Zika virus, or Herpes B virus. Work irregular hours (early mornings, early evening, and / or weekends, as needed). Work occasional overtime including some weekends and holidays.
