We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our team on a contract basis in Sacramento, California. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical records and patient information into standardized codes, ensuring proper billing and compliance with industry standards. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with healthcare professionals and contribute to the efficient processing of medical claims.

Responsibilities :

• Convert medical diagnoses, procedures, and treatments into standardized numeric or alphanumeric codes.
• Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate and compliant coding.
• Prepare and submit insurance claims while addressing any discrepancies or denials.
• Perform regular audits to maintain the accuracy and integrity of coding practices.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to clarify medical information and coding needs.
• Stay informed about updates to coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Train and provide guidance to coders with less experience, as needed.
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with ethical and legal standards in all coding processes.
• Utilize coding software and tools such as 3M, Cerner Technologies, and AHLTA to optimize workflows.
• Certification as a Certified Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
• Proven experience in medical coding, including familiarity with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Proficiency in coding software and tools such as 3M, Cerner Technologies, and AHLTA.
• Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare team members and communicate clearly.
• Familiarity with billing processes and claim administration.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to legal and ethical standards.
