Your role as a Respiratory Therapist

As a Part Time Respiratory Therapist at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive cardiopulmonary care to a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics. Your responsibilities will include setting up and maintaining respiratory care equipment and performing both routine and intensive therapy, all while demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of current respiratory theories and practices. Additionally, you will engage in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation intake, develop individual treatment plans, and conduct stress testing using treadmill and nuclear medicine techniques. You will also contribute to maintaining a safe and clean environment, actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, and uphold our commitment to excellence and patient safety.

Working collaboratively with the team, you will ensure effective communication and operations that align with the mission and objectives of GMHC, while adhering to vital quality initiatives and compliance standards.

What you need to be successful

To excel as a Part Time Respiratory Therapist at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, you must possess a blend of essential skills and qualifications. A minimum of an Associate's degree from an accredited respiratory care program is required, along with a current RRT credential from the NBRC and a valid license from the Iowa Board of Respiratory Care. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained before patient care, while Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications should be completed within six months of your start date. Competence in clinical knowledge is crucial, enabling you to deliver high-quality respiratory care. Strong organizational and time management skills are imperative to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, EMR (EPIC platform), and strong customer service and communication skills will aid in building rapport with patients and colleagues alike. Previous clerical experience in healthcare and familiarity with medical terminology are also advantageous.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• Associates degree from an accredited school for respiratory care or higher.
• Must maintain current RRT credential with the NBRC and valid license with the Iowa Board of Respiratory Care. BLS required prior to patient care. ACLS
