Job Description
La Academia's Middle School Advisory Teacher will provide academic and social-emotional support to students in grades 6 through 8. This teacher will play a vital role in fostering strong relationships with students, supporting their academic growth, and facilitating communication between staff and families. The Middle school Advisory Teacher will rotate between grade-level cohorts every other week and collaborate closely with ELA and Math teachers to provide targeted instructional support during their class periods.
Reports to : Dean of Middle School
Duties & Responsibilities
Facilitate Advisory sessions with each middle school cohort (grades 6-8) on a rotating, bi-weekly schedule.Collaborate regularly with ELA and Math teachers to identify and support students in need of additional academic reinforcement.Provide small-group or one-on-one instruction as needed.Responsible for implementing and documenting RTI minutes.Track and analyze student progress in collaboration with academic teams, using data to drive instructional decisions.Communicate intervention progress and strategies with both staff and families, ensuring transparency and alignment in support plans.Develop and maintain a positive classroom culture during advisory sessions, promoting SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) and academic goal-setting.Participate in team meetings, professional development, and data discussions as part of the broader middle school team.Build strong, positive relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse community of students and their families as well as colleaguesComplete all required training, goal setting, and other areas of compliance related to professional evaluationsPrepare lesson plans, seating charts, and classroom procedures for substitute teachersUtilize school required platforms as required to perform dutiesPerform other classroom responsibilities and all other duties as assigned and / or stated in our Employee HandbookSuccessful Candidates Will

Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware License and Middle Level English Language Arts Certification in required areas in accordance with 14 Del. C. 1531Successful completion of Praxis II exams1-2 years of teaching experience at the middle school level with a master's degree in English or an education related degree in the English fieldAdditional qualifications and / or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and School AdministrationMust be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workdayMinimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance)Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workdayEmployment Contingency
