Description : GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Quality Technician is responsible for maintaining standards in the production process. They inspect products and processes, ensure they meet predefined specifications and assist in instituting improvements as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.

  • Follow procedures, work instructions and training to ensure conformity of product and processes.
  • Proper use of measuring equipment, e.g. calipers, micrometers and attribute gages.
  • Monitoring and maintaining calibration of measuring equipment, including using external calibration providers.
  • Inspection and testing of raw materials where applicable.
  • Inspection of product throughout the production process to ensure conformity to customer requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections and testing.
  • Assist in training of personnel in other departments regarding quality measures and collaborating with various departments to ensure quality throughout the entire organization.
  • Communicate quality concerns with urgency and assist in resolving any quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Identifies areas for quality control improvement and implements new methods accordingly.
  • Assists the Quality Control Manager in maintaining the Quality Management System.
  • Ensures compliance with Global Polymer’s safety practices.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Solid understanding of test equipment
  • Minimum of 2 years inspection and / or production experience
  • Strong working knowledge of various math concepts, including fractions, ratios and proportions.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to communicate in either Spanish or English
  • Strong attention to details is required.
  • Proven capacity to organize time in a fast-paced work environment required.
  • Ability to act and interact with others in a respectful manner.
  • Preference given to prior quality technician experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • This position requires standing, sitting, walking, twisting, and occasionally bending.
  • Lifting of 10 lbs or under, often.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
  • Required use of hands to pick up, handle and move objects often.

  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and / or loud noises.
