For our future state-of-the-art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Jr. Power and Utilities Tech
Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 Billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant becomes operational in 2024 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2.
Starting Pay
Starting pay is $25.50 with an additional $3.50 per hour with the completion of each of 3 certifications. Additionally, employees receive an additional $1 per hour for hours worked between 6pm and 6am.
Certifications
- Complete Ammonia Level 1 Training / Certificate
- Complete Boiler Operator Level 1 Training / Certificate
- Complete Water Operator Level 1 Training / Certificate
Role and Training
The Power & Utilities (P&U) Junior Technician is responsible for learning and applying the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform a P&U technician position within 18 months of employment. This includes installing, disassembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment, learning and performing safe repair and troubleshooting of malfunctioning mechanical, electrical or instrumentation systems, calibrating instruments, maintaining 5S standards in work areas and tool boxes, performing mechanical, preventive and predictive maintenance, and participating on the hazmat response team.
Responsibilities
Calibrating and troubleshooting steam, refrigeration, compressed air and support equipmentRepairing and troubleshooting electrical or instrumentation systems, AC frequency drives, calibration of instruments, and performing mechanical, preventive, and predictive maintenancePerforming welding and mechanical repairsCompleting preventive maintenance work ordersCommunicating effectively with co-workers, team leads, and supervisorsPerforming work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conductPerforming cleaning duties as requiredImplementing and maintaining 5S standardsEnsuring product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policiesMinimum Qualifications & Experience
Must be 18 years of ageAbility to speak, read and write English to understand / adhere to SOPs and GMPs, to communicate with others, and to troubleshoot systemsPrior experience demonstrating knowledge in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, electrical controls, and schematic readingComputer proficiency in email, internet, and basic Microsoft Office softwarePreferred Qualifications & Experience
One year of experience in a manufacturing maintenance type roleStainless steel welding and fabrication experienceBasic knowledge of utility equipment and operations (e.g. boiler and refrigeration equipment)Dairy / food manufacturing experienceKnowledge of government and industrial regulations (e.g. PSM, OSHA, and USDA)Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (e.g. SAP, Maximo)Familiarity with AC frequency drives, instrumentation, welding, mechanical repairs (including rebuilding gearboxes and process equipment) experiencePLC troubleshooting experienceTraining and compliance
