SCENIC DESIGN LECTURER SEARCH
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE -
CLAIRE TREVOR SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA
The Department of Drama is establishing a search of qualified applicants for a position as part-time lecturer for Winter Quarter 2026 in the curriculum area of Scenic Design.
The new course in introduces students to world building, spatial design, and visualization using Unreal Engine, with a primary focus on theatrical and scenic applications. It will also welcome students from other design and art disciplines interested in expanding their digital skill sets.
A Bachelors (BA) degree is required.
Candidates should have professional experience with Unreal Engine and related digital design software, along with the ability to guide students in developing immersive digital environments that merge creativity and technology. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must be able to support students working on personal computers capable of running Unreal Engine. This is a studio-based course that emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and cross-disciplinary exploration.
