Assistant Civil / Structural Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (Wallingford)
The Assistant Civil / Structural Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams in creating designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of facilities, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. The engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans based on budget, design factors or client needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the civil / structural design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
- Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental / military facilities.
- Assist in designing civil / structural components to meet project needs and requirements set by project managers.
- Apply basic knowledge of civil / structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
- Assist with researching and compiling project data, studies and reports as required by project managers.
- Assist with updating drawings provided by senior engineers and verify corrections in CAD-related software.
- Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration for the design of various facilities.
- Assist in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required, or a Bachelor Degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.Prior internship and / or related consulting experience preferred.Basic knowledge in standard civil / structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; demonstrated critical thinking skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; basic computer skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD) and civil analysis programs.Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills; demonstrated leadership potential.Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred; campus or community involvement preferred.Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.Compensation & Benefits
$71,500.00 - $110,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range is displayed in compliance with local / state regulations and is based on factors including education, qualifications, experience, and location. The total annual compensation may include a base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
