Behavioral Health and Palliative Medicine Director
Wage Range : $131,684.80 - $210,704 per year
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Health and Palliative Medicine departments, including staff management, marketing and community awareness, patient flow, clinical supervision and oversight, and complaint resolution. Assists organizational leadership with strategic planning and clinical, operational and financial integration of Behavioral Health and Palliative Medicine services throughout the care continuum and in areas such as inpatient, hospice, primary and specialty care clinics. Responsible for overall quality of service including planning, developing, integrating, and overseeing programs, staff, and budget in support of the organizational goals and commitments.
Primary Duties :
- Provides day-to-day oversight of clinical operations for Behavioral Health and Palliative Medicine, ensuring smooth operation of all aspects of day-to-day program operations.
- Supervises clinical social workers / counselors on assigned teams in addition to clinical supervisors, behavioral health office / support staff, consulting psychiatrists, telepsychiatrists, nurse practitioners and other contract staff.
- On an annual basis, develops revenue, expense and capital budgets within EvergreenHealth guidelines for Behavioral Health and Palliative Medicine. In collaboration with the Director, submits budgets that reflect anticipated revenue and expenses
- Ensures that budget goals are achieved, cost objectives are met, and key business indicators are monitored on a monthly and annual basis. Develops and implements processes to manage clinical personnel, materials, and finances within the established budget. Approves all program expenditures.
- Ensures personnel are compliant with EvergreenHealth policies.
- Ensures regulatory compliance with all governing agencies or bodies (OSHA, JCAHO, Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD), etc.).
- Responsible for growth, education, and promotion of Palliative Medicine and Behavioral Health.
- Maintains knowledge of payor requirements and contracts.
- Collaborates with system leaders on referrals, billing, operations, and integration efforts for clinical services.
- Works with Medical Directors to establish and oversee clinical quality, supervision and practice standards for service line.
- Facilitates patient care and operations including organization and management within established policies, procedures, standards of care, budgetary parameters and strategic objectives.
- In collaboration with legal and leadership, develops, negotiates, implements, and maintains contracts for service with King County Behavioral Health Recovery Division (BHRD), commercial insurances, and other funding sources.

License, Certification, Education or Experience :
Required for the position :
Master's degree in social work or behavioral sciences or a related fieldWA Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)5 years of supervisory, management, or leadership experienceExperience networking with other providers, funders, and consumer groupsExperience with budgeting, strategic planning and health care policy.Experience developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures.Experience with operations management and regulatory compliance.Experience with performance improvement.Experience with development and management of contracts.Public speaking skills, including the ability to create and execute internal and external presentations and lectures.Desired for the position :
