This role offers a strategic leadership opportunity to drive independent engineering and bankability assessment services for energy infrastructure projects. The Technical Director will oversee technical, financial, and regulatory evaluations, advising sponsors, investors, and lenders throughout project development and financing stages. This position requires a balance of technical expertise, commercial insight, and client-facing skills to guide high-value decisions. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client engagements, and translate complex analyses into actionable insights. The role also emphasizes relationship-building with financial institutions, tax equity providers, and industry stakeholders. Remote collaboration with internal teams will support the delivery of comprehensive due diligence and advisory services that directly impact project success and growth strategy.

Accountabilities

As Technical Director – Independent Engineering, you will :

  • Lead comprehensive project evaluations covering financial, technical, regulatory, and commercial aspects for equity investors, lenders, and developers.
  • Oversee and execute commercial due diligence and bankability assessments, serving as the technical lead on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage directly with clients to provide strategic advisory insights, communicate project value propositions, and support financing strategies.
  • Develop and present due diligence findings, translating complex technical and financial analyses into actionable recommendations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with financial institutions, tax equity providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor market, policy, and regulatory trends to inform client advisory and internal strategy.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, marketing efforts, and strategic client growth.
  • Mentor team members, standardize evaluation methodologies, and promote a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

Requirements

Candidates should have :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in project finance, technical advisory, or commercial due diligence for energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Expertise in financial modeling for energy projects, including tax equity, non-recourse debt, and complex deal structures.
  • Deep understanding of power markets, project lifecycle, PPA contracts, interconnection processes, and financing strategies.
  • Familiarity with U.S. energy policy, tax credits (e.g., ITC, PTC, 45Q, 45V), and market trends.
  • Proven ability to identify risks, evaluate complex deal structures, and generate actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and experience leading strategic conversations.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor teams and drive strategic alignment.
