SUMMARY OF JOB : Paralegal needed, minimum of 3-5 years of insurance defense experience required. Hybrid work environment, allowing for remote work up to 2 days per week after satisfactory completion of training, with the other 3 days per week in our Southfield, Michigan office. Performs a variety of duties for assigned attorney(s) according to established policies and procedures. Maintains positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff and observes confidentiality of client matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
- Reviews and summarizes medical records
- Prepares damage analyses
- Prepares summaries for Case Evaluation, Facilitation, and Arbitration under the direction of the attorney
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
- Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
- Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
- Works closely with Legal Assistants regularly to ensure all case calendars are updated and all necessary filings are timely
- Serves as a resource for Legal Assistants regarding topics within their scope of work
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
