Position Overview :
We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and hospitality-driven Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate combines technical wine expertise with a warm and intuitive sense of guest service. This role involves knowledge in Italian-forward wine list, training staff, and guiding our guests through an exceptional dining experience with thoughtful beverage pairings and personal engagement.
Key Responsibilities :
- Actively lead table-side wine service with approachability, professionalism, and deep product knowledge, especially of Italian and domestic wines
- Assist in maintaining and updating the wine list, with a focus on inventory accuracy, seasonal selections, and vintage integrity
- Conduct staff training sessions on wine regions, producers, tasting techniques, and pairing philosophy, ensuring confident and consistent FOH knowledge
- Monitor cellar organization, storage conditions, and using designated inventory systems
- Collaborate with the Beverage Director to source and taste wines, build relationships with reps, and stay attuned to market trends
- Drive wine sales by engaging guests with genuine recommendations, curated pairings, and thoughtful storytelling around producers and regions
- Support floor operations during service as a polished and hands-on team member, helping to ensure smooth pacing, table coverage, and guest satisfaction
- Assist with private dining and special event beverage planning as needed
- Uphold Scopa’s standard of gracious, attentive hospitality and be a cultural leader on the floor
Requirements :
