Compensation : Hourly base pay rate is $28.37 - $42.60 / hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. FSCA is the leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile on-site fleet service for light medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. FSCA also services customers utilizing its 20+ nationwide service centers; each offering accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair. We are supported by a 24 / 7 in-house call-center and provide scheduled maintenance services and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime. FSCA is currently hiring a Shop Paint Tech II to join our Field Maintenance Team to support future growth of the Company. This is an on-site role and we do not provide emergency road services. Sr Shop Paint Technician will be responsible for formulating, mixing, and applying properly mixed and dispensed automotive refinish materials to vehicle surfaces and sub-assemblies, using spray-painting equipment, power tools, and other duties as assigned such as minor body repairs. The Sr Shop Paint Technician can perform more advanced refinishing procedures such as multi-stage systems, two tone, and stripes. The Sr Shop Paint Technician assists Shop Paint Technician I and II with refinishing and continues to learn additional advanced refinishing skills. Heavily relied upon for troubleshooting including color match and paint imperfections. A successful Sr Shop Paint Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.

Primary Duties / Key Responsibilities

Perform adjustments and intermediate repair various types of truck and trailer equipment.

Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as computers and pressure gauges.

Assist Shop Paint Technician I & II with refinish troubleshooting.

Perform advanced refinish troubleshooting and triage of complicated refinishing by Shop Paint Technicians I & II.

Formulate and apply mixed and dispensed automotive refinish materials to vehicle surfaces and sub-assemblies in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.

Mix only the amount of refinish products (primer, base and clear) required to cover repair / refinish area and limit waste, using paint suppliers mix-management system.

Update all paint supplier color, technical data and MSDS material as received.

Assure all refinish products are properly formulated to meet color match and finish texture expectations, utilizing all tools and techniques provided by paint suppliers technical support system (i.e., TDS, color match system, etc.).

Inspect refinish products to be used for proper formulation to meet color match and finish texture standards.

Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.

Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to discuss RO findings notes.

Perform minor adjustments and body repairs on various types of truck and trailer equipment.

Apply, mix, and dispense automotive refinish materials to vehicle surfaces and sub-assemblies in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.

Inspect the condition of panels to be painted for any subtle defects in repair, prepping or masking; refer any issues discovered to supervisor.

Education / Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED and 5 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree / certification beyond a HS diploma / GED in a related discipline and 3 years' experience; or 7 years' experience in a related field.

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.

Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.

This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.

Due to interstate operating commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.

Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.

ASE B2 (Painting and Refinishing) certification

ASE B3 (Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair) certification

ASE B5 (Mechanical and Electrical) certification

Experience

Minimum of 4 years of experience as Paint Technician on medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair or equivalent combination of technical education / certifications / skill experiences.

Associate's Degree, BA / BS or Technical certification + up to 2 year experience.

5 years of equivalent experience in a similar Technician role.

Skills / Abilities

Knowledge of various paint equipment and paint systems, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Ability to communicate information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner. Engages in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups.

Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
