Clerk of the Circuit Court
Under general supervision, performs advanced clerical and administrative support work for the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. Employee must exercise independent judgment, initiative, and attention to detail in completing job duties. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with staff, partnering agencies, the legal community, and the public.
High school graduate or equivalent; and 1 - 2 years of experience in varied clerical work; or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Performs clerical and administrative duties in support of the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. Retrieves and distributes mail; drafts routine correspondence; answers telephone; greets the public; provides information or refers inquiries to appropriate personnel. Performs counter duty, which includes issuing marriage licenses, processing concealed handgun permit applications, notary oaths, and filing military discharges; helps patrons with questions about public records housed in the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, typewriters, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Occasionally may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
