Description :

Will have to drive to pick up and return van every shift.

Serves over 7,500 care facilities nationwide.

Under supervision of the Laboratory Manager, performs waived laboratory tests in a remote or mobile setting.

Responsible for monitoring the quality of reagents and the working condition of instruments.

Receives specimens from phlebotomists and couriers.

May operate a delivery van to bring the mobile lab to an area of high volume for testing when applicable.

Enters patient demographics and test orders into the lab information system.

Checks the quality control of each test prior to running and reporting patient results.

Ensures quality control is within appropriate limits.

Brings problems to a supervisor / manager in real time.

Performs lab testing in the areas of point of care.

Areas may include Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular, and Coagulation.

Enters test results into the system.

Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing.

Brings any rare and improbable test results to the attention of a supervisor / manager.

Performs blood collection including venipuncture and capillary specimens.

Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.

Monitors STAT board to ensure turnaround goals are consistently met.

Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.

Ensures compliance with state requirements for documentation.

Troubleshoots problems as needed.

Performs maintenance on automated instrumentation as needed.

Records quality control and maintains records on all assays performed.

Performs other tasks and procedures that are commensurate with education, training, and abilities.

Responsible for all clerical functions associated with specimen integrity, testing, identification, and reporting.

Follows all safety protocols as outlined in the safety manual.

The work environment characteristics are representative of those encountered while performing essential functions.

Laboratory staff can expect to work in areas where hazards associated with blood-borne pathogens may exist.

Appropriate training is provided regarding these hazards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, handle, talk, and hear.

The employee may occasionally walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee may lift and / or move up to 15 pounds on occasion.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

No color visual deficiency.

Physical demands include pushing / pulling equipment weighing 50-100 lbs.

The weight may decrease with the use of equipment, but can increase in certain situations.

Previous experience with phlebotomy and laboratory testing is advantageous.

High school degree or equivalent is required.

State regulations apply regarding licensing for the testing personnel performing waived testing.

Detail-oriented and organizational skills are important.

Exercise accuracy and precision in all tasks and treatments.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is a requirement for all individuals.
