Description :

This position is for a travel Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit specializing in cardiac surgery.

The unit comprises 20 beds.

There are 40 staff members, including RNs and Patient Care Technicians.

The day shift features 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, and 3 Patient Care Technicians, while the night shift includes 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, and 2 Patient Care Technicians.

The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 4.

The unit is equipped with various monitoring and treatment devices including telemetry, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, tracheostomy equipment, bipap and cpap machines, heated high-flow systems, chest tubes, foleys, and IV pumps.

The electronic medical record system utilized is Meditech.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage complex care situations and have experience with high-acuity patients.

The ideal candidate is a great team player with high energy.

Typical procedures performed include chest tube placements, removal of chest tubes, removal of pacer wires, and conducting 12-lead EKGs.

This is a fast-paced and challenging cardiac unit within a center of excellence for cardiac care.
