Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Phase Manager to join our Sports and Entertainment Group. The ideal candidate should be able to interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and professional, with a high level of confidentiality. The role requires anticipating problems, critical issues, and opportunities, along with creative problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
The Design Phase Manager will ensure the owner's vision is translated into design solutions and construction parameters through leadership of the design process and team members. The position may involve working on two projects simultaneously or one larger project.

Responsibilities
- Lead project team during design phase to ensure customer experience, financial performance, and smooth transition to construction.
- Achieve scope, budget, and schedule alignment; ensure construction readiness.
- Establish and manage project budget, scope expectations, and trending logs.
- Create and manage project schedules and key milestones; hold team accountable.
- Obtain regulatory approvals and permits.
- Align design documents with project execution plan.
- Handle bid packages and contract manuals.
- Resolve technical design and specification concerns.
- Develop or review project margin plans; minimize risk and maximize opportunities.
- Act as primary contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
- Monitor and measure project success factors.
- Foster an integrated team experience with clear roles and communication.
- Facilitate designer selection and contracting for design-build projects.
- Mentor and guide design phase team members for career growth.
- Develop and present project proposals.
- Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
- Lead by example, provide coaching and feedback, and manage performance for a team of 1-3 design phase managers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Estimating, or a related field.Minimum of 10 years of related experience.Minimum of 8 years relevant experience.Risk management skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management, and web applications at an intermediate level.Active listening and effective communication skills, with openness to diverse input and feedback.Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, problem-solving, and leadership skills.Attention to detail to manage multiple project tasks.Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.Willingness and ability to travel.Valid driver's license.Experience in Sports and Entertainment sectors is preferred.Benefits
