Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY :

As a key member of our Finance team, the Staff Accountant will maintain financial records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and regulations. This role involves managing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, performing reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing. You'll work closely with all departments to ensure timely financial information.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor's degree in accounting. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.

Strong understanding of GAAP, regulatory standards, and compliance requirement.

Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior management.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Financial Edge Experience is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but is not limited to) :

Prepare financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Research and correct account discrepancies.

Ensure all invoices are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies.

Prepare and process AP checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments in a timely manner.

Maintain and update vendor records, ensuring accurate contact and banking information.

Prepare financial reports for management (e.g., AP aging reports, payment summaries).

Work with other departments to allocate expenses according to the appropriate budget lines.

Perform Corporate Credit Card Reconciliation.

Support month-end and year-end close processes.

Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and reconciliations (including grant-related audits).

Ensure financial data is accurately documented and easily auditable, maintaining compliance with internal controls and external regulations (including grant funding requirements).

Assist with preparing and maintaining accurate records for tax reporting, including sales tax, 1099 reporting, and other applicable tax filings.

Support with AR duties, as assigned.

Handle other duties and projects, as assigned.

Working Conditions

This is an office-based role focused on collaboration. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during special projects or reporting periods.

Compensation for this position is based according to market rate and experience level.
