About the Role Sandy Hook Promise is looking for a fast-paced, solution and detail-oriented individual to assist the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Innovation in developing, supervising, managing, and leading our day-to-day Adult Programs efforts. The Adult Programs Director is dedicated to developing, supervising, managing, and organizing sustainability strategies and activities that will support the success of Sandy Hook Promise with Adult programs enacted across the country.
This involves facilitating grant partnerships and requirements, and state, district, school, university, and corporate and community-based relationships.
This position oversees creating and administering Adult Programs that support adults and youth across the country who desire safer and more educated schools, homes, and communities.
The Adult Programs Director reports to the Associate Vice President of Innovation, and works closely with the Implementation and Partner Success teams, State and Community Partnerships, and other departments across SHP’s internal staff. Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the AVP, Innovation, manages and directs Adult Programs development, piloting, implementation, and support activities across the country to ensure sustainability of Sandy Hook Promise programs Creates learning architecture and content for adult learning programs aligned with our theory of change Develops model modules that demonstrate inclusive, clear, and trauma-sensitive instructional design. Works with third-party vendors to ensure production quality and alignment to vision. Incorporates lived experience, community feedback, and adult learning best practices into design. Collaborates with Implementation and Partner Success Teams to pilot programs and assess field impact and improve training effectiveness. Participates in the development of REDI practices so that they are woven throughout Adult Programs, including leading conversations focused on participant identity (race, gender, sexuality, geography, etc.) Supports and directs managers in leveraging technology and communications to engage and mobilize monthly actions including Call-To-Action (CTA) weeks and ongoing Adult Programs Activities. Develops and implements programming and measurable outcomes in accordance with stated deliverables, timeline and budget for funders.
Directs and oversees deliverables and special projects for Adult Programs throughout regions when necessary Directs the planning and execution of adult programs.
This includes overseeing the execution and implementation of outreach, awareness and recruitment strategies, webinars, communications and key meetings, and mass communication strategies. Directs, coaches, and develops managers to deliver against adult program goals, including the planning, execution, logistics and follow up of adult program learning opportunities. Informs and directs tracking and reporting for sustainability metrics; this includes overseeing tracking of Adult Programs survey completion, program participation, collecting stories of impact as needed, and working in collaboration with managers as needed to meet goals. Proactively identifies, communicates and trouble shoots potential challenges and opportunities that may impact meeting sustainability goals or program delivery / sustainability. Works with AVP of Innovation and fellow directors on program materials and tools, inform outreach strategy and support national activities. Ensures AVP is proactively informed on challenges, opportunities, and progress towards goals to allow for pivoting early in strategy to avoid foreseeable obstacles and leverage potential opportunities. Serves on and represents Adult Programs interests on multiple Director-level committees across departments in Sandy Hook Promise.
Attends Director-level meetings to direct and elevate Adult Programs activities and interests. Work and collaborate with teammates from across the organization as necessary. Have a basic understanding of data literacy and willingness to use and refer to data.
Other duties as identified given organizational needs. Desired Skills and Experiences 5+ years of experience in developing Adult Education, Family Education, Community Education programming or similar.
Experience with violence prevention programming a plus. 3-5 years of experience in regional or national program implementation with supervisory experience. Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Family Education, Community Education or similar required.
