Major Position Responsibilities
This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite.
Summary :
Plans and coordinates the environmental health and safety program requiring application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases as well as environmental regulations by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions :
- Develop and implement sustainable strategies for the site to obtain environmental, health, and safety corporate goals and drive to achieve mission zero. Responsible for the design, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems through effective process management, communication, cost control, and team work.
- Maintain executive and site leadership teams' awareness of the EHS program at the site.
- Develops and implements a program and system to track and evaluate worker injuries. Lead responses to environmental and safety investigations on local and federal level and actively participate in any required response.
- Maintain environmental health and safety programs in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards, in addition to federal, state and local regulations.
- Support a culture of EHS excellence and continual improvement working EHS objectives into the overall facility strategic plan.
- Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, radiation, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health. Develops and implements programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.
- Provides technical guidance to management, labor organizations, government agencies, and civic groups regarding health related problems and proper mitigation strategies.
- Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations. Monitors the company's EHS standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to environmental health and safety.
- Supervise, mentor and coach the EHS staff and ensure their development towards career progression.
Basic Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Science, Environmental Engineering or related field) required. Master's degree in these fields preferred.3 to 5 years of managerial experience + 7 to 9 years of individual experience in functional area.Preferred :
