WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Boston, has an opening for an experienced part-time Broadcast Operations Technician. The technician maintains the technical integrity of the station's on-air signals and equipment from acquisition to distribution. Prior experience as a Technical Director operating a switcher for live newscasts is desirable. The role supports in-house and remote productions. This position is part of the IBEW union and reports to the Technical Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Technical Directing using a Sony 8000 video switcher with video and graphics playback.
• Operate various technical positions including robotic cameras, lighting, and audio consoles in control room and remote productions.
• Master Control operations and Air Assist functions across multiple platforms.
• ENG Receive acquisition and distribution.
• Floor Directing in studio and at remote productions.
• Handle props and sets during productions, including moving heavy equipment.
• Maintain studio appearance, including cleaning sets and floors.
• Understand lighting grid and control board; climb ladders, change bulbs, and adjust fixtures.
• Dress microphones and IFBs for on-camera appearances.
• Utilize basic multimedia computer skills and current Internet technologies.
• Assist with technical needs on remote productions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Operations Manager.
