Job Summary : Manage tooling department and oversee all tooling employees to ensure quality and meet deadlines.
Required Education and Experience :
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and four to ten years of experience in automotive industry or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have strong technical background
- Must have a good knowledge of the English language
- Tool and Die Journeyman’s Card
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Must have excellent communication, organization, time management, problem solving, leadership, analytical, and decision making skills
- GD&T Training
- Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, delegate, and give instruction
- Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
Essential Functions :
Implement the launch of new tooling initiatives at the plant level, ensuring quality control and commitment to deadlinesMust oversee line stops, safety violations / accidents, and chronic defectsParticipate in the reviewing process of the following itemsDevelopment of budgets and controlling costs, review weekly forecasts, capital expenditures, and headcountStrengthen the competitive position of the plant to enable growth through new business; review quotes and present to customersDevelopment of business plans aimed at achieving established goals and objectivesDevelopment of policies and proceduresProtect assets of the companyManage policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations visual controls, and plant performance measuresContribute to ongoing improvement to throughput, inventory, and operational expenseEnsure and measure improvements made in the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machinesEnsure customer expectations are met or exceeded in delivery or cost. Liaison with customer whenever necessary to ensure customer is supported, travel to customer when requiredEnsure that appropriate training, coaching, and discipline is given to ensure high performance of tasks to meet scheduled requirementsContinuously possess knowledge of the newest developments in the industry, and interchange that knowledge with members of the organizationDirectly supervise Tool and Die Makers, Fabricators, Team Leaders, Tool and Die Apprentices, Tool Room Planner, Tooling Engineer, and Tooling Specialist positionsAny other duties or responsibilities assigned by the General Manager or Assistant General ManagerAbide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following : Health and Safety, Quality andEnvironmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
