Job Description :
- Provide day-to-day direction and coordination within the Deli department
- Promote and maintain compliance to all local, state and federal laws as well as company and department policies and SOP's. This includes, but is not limited to understanding and following Child Labor Laws, Workers Compensation reporting requirements and Occupational Safety and Health standards.
- Provide direction and mentoring to the Assistant Deli Manager, as required
- Ensure product availability, quality, variety and freshness meets standards. Ensure products are displayed nicely and customer have appropriate access to them
- Train assigned personnel, as required and complete appropriate training paperwork in a timely fashion
- Create weekly work schedules to ensure all assigned shifts are properly staffed and within payroll budget
- Receive and verify all Deli department deliveries against invoices, including checking products for quality and condition. Reconcile any discrepancies as warranted
- Interact directly with vendors and assume responsibility for purchasing products and supplies. Make product pricing decisions, when applicable and perform cost effective inventory management
- Provide merchandizing responsibilities that attract customers, profitability and effective space management within the department.
- Coordinate, delegate and follow up with department personnel to ensure maximum performance. Audit performance and take appropriate / timely corrective action as required
- Meet performance evaluation deadlines while providing helpful and accurate feedback
- Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, positive, team oriented, customer-focused attitude within internal store personnel and between all store locations. Lead by example
- Keep management aware of concerns, issues, etc. warranting their attention, knowledge of, action and / or resolution in a timely manner
- Work in unison with the management team to achieve store objectives
- Provide direction, motivation, coordination, support, training / cross-training, development and follow-up of assigned personnel.

- Responsible for timely performance / development evaluation feedback for assigned personnel
- Maintain department records, files, accounts and databases in areas of responsibility, as required. Ensure security and confidentiality of assigned company records, financials, databases, files, etc
- Ensure department personnel present a well-groomed appearance and wear appropriate store attire and nametag
- Maintain effective housekeeping on a regular basis and address safety concerns in a timely fashion.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by Store Director and / or Assistant Managers
- Understand and perform all positions within the Deli department when necessary
