Under the direction of the Director of Safety and Risk Management, the Safety Intern is responsible for providing effective clerical support to the Human Resources division.
Qualifications
- Education : Currently enrolled in an Occupational Safety and Health program preferred or the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED.
- Years of Relevant Work Experience : 0-3 years of experience working in a construction environment.
- Certificates / Licenses : OSHA 30-hour certification preferred. Valid driver’s license. Satisfactory driving record.
- Physical Job Requirements : Required to sit, stand and move throughout Company facilities. Must be able to climb ladders. Must be able to perform job responsibilities in an industrial, construction site, and general outdoor environment around heavy machinery and equipment.

Key Activities
The responsibilities listed are for an entry level safety coordinator position with our company. Throughout your internship, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to as many of these tasks as possible.
Safety Procedures. Assist with the administration of the safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.Administrative Support. Complete Toolbox Talks and other training such as record tracking. Inspect equipment. Maintain first aid cabinets at multiple locations. Shadow the Safety Coordinator. Attend and record meeting minutes for the Safety Committee meetings. Update and maintain the Haz Com Program.Safety Reviews. Assist with facility inspections and job sites to detect existing or potential safety and health hazards. Determine corrective or preventative measures and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.Other duties and projects as assigned.Participates in the development and implementation of Company best practices.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work required of this position.
