GS Steel is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Quality Assurance and Risk Management (DQARM) to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the President, this role provides oversight of quality, safety, and risk management programs, ensuring that GS Steel continues to deliver operational excellence and uphold the highest standards of integrity and performance.
The DQARM will serve as both the Responsible Quality Personnel (RQP) and Responsible Safety Personnel (RSP), leading a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing the companys culture of Character, Craftsmanship, and Culture. This leader will drive the integration of AISC 207-20 certification, OSHA compliance, and risk mitigation systems into a unified management framework that supports GS Steels long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Partner with the President and Executive Team to align quality and risk strategies with GS Steels business objectives.
Serve as the executive sponsor for AISC, OSHA, and insurance compliance programs.
Advise leadership on emerging industry, legal, and operational risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
Champion GS Steels safety and quality culture through communication, visibility, and trust.
Lead the development, implementation, and auditing of the companys Quality Management System in accordance with AISC 207-20.
Oversee inspection processes, non-conformance reporting, corrective actions, and client quality documentation.
Coordinate internal and third-party quality audits; ensure timely closeout of findings.
Direct the companywide safety program and compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.
Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and claims management from root cause to resolution.
Manage relationships with insurance partners, ensuring accurate data and timely reporting.
Develop and deliver proactive safety and quality training for all levels of leadership.
Coordinate with Operations, Construction, and HR to ensure policies are consistent, documented, and enforced.
Partner with field leadership to integrate QA / QC and safety expectations into project planning.
Other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Scope
Direct reports include the Safety Manager(s) and applicable specialists. Provides functional oversight for QA / QC, Safety, and Risk management domains.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelors degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; Masters is a plus. Minimum 10 years of experience in safety, quality, or risk management leadership within construction or steel industries.
Strong working knowledge of AISC, OSHA, and risk mitigation principles.
Recognized certification preferred (CSP, ASP, CHST, or AISC Quality Management).
Proven record of building systems and teams that improve measurable performance outcomes.
High integrity, analytical strength, and ability to lead through influence.
Performance Metrics
AISC Certification & Audit Performance : Maintain certification with zero major findings.
Experience Modification Rate (EMR) : Achieve and sustain EMR below 1.0.
TRIR / Incident Rate : Continuous reduction in recordable and lost-time incidents.
Quality Non-Conformance Rate : Year-over-year improvement in NCR frequency and resolution speed.
Claims Management Efficiency : Timely claim resolution and measurable cost containment.
Corrective Action Cycle Time : Close corrective actions within prescribed timelines.
Training Compliance : 100% completion of safety, quality, and leadership training.
Continuous Improvement : Track and report measurable improvements across field operations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Work will involve periodic site visits requiring walking, standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Travel and overnight stays may be required. The work environment alternates between office and field settings with moderate to high noise levels.
