Network Engineer – Top Secret Clearance | Norfolk, VA

We are currently seeking a Network Engineer to support operations in Norfolk, VA. This is a full-time position requiring an active DoD TS clearance.

This position is contingent upon contract award with an expected award date of January 2026.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide network engineering, administration, and cybersecurity support for multi-classification cyber OT&E networks and infrastructure.
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain cyber labs (attack, analysis, training), toolsets, and flyaway kits.
  • Create virtualized environments to support test events, ensure operational readiness, and troubleshoot issues during execution.
  • Administer network systems : apply patches, harden systems, review logs, and ensure physical / electronic security.
  • Support RMF compliance activities, including documentation and vulnerability analysis.
  • Configure networks to support penetration testing and on-keyboard cyber training events.
  • Integrate server and virtual hosting technologies into secure network architecture.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and brief OPTEVFOR leadership on a weekly basis.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications :

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field (ABET / CAE-accredited) OR 5+ years' experience in network design, infrastructure, and security.
  • At least 3 years of RMF security testing experience.
  • Technical Expertise :

  • Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Proficiency in Python, Perl, or shell scripting for automation.
  • Experience applying STIGs, IAVA compliance, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Familiarity with RMF, network segmentation, and defense-in-depth design.
  • Certifications :

    Must have a current and active DoD TS security clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI clearance.

    Proficient with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies

    Preferred (Nice to Have) :

  • Working knowledge of LAN / WAN architecture, VPN security, PKI, and common attack vectors.
  • Familiarity with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) tools and traffic analysis.
  • Experience supporting DoD environments and cyber OT&E missions.
  • Understanding of RMF documentation, security assessments, and accreditation artifacts.
  • Travel & Passport

    Some overnight stays possible.

    Work Environment

    Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY / OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil.

    Office setting :

    Primarily an office-based role in Norfolk, VA

    Standard desk / computer work with flexibility for walking and movement on site

    Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.

    Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

    May be required to travel short distances to offices / conference rooms and buildings on site.
