About Nation Outside Nation Outside is a statewide movement powered by people directly impacted by the criminal legal system.

With the successful completion of the Trauma-Informed Peer-Led Reentry (TIPLR) Pilot , we are entering an exciting new phase :
- scaling the model for replication across Michigan and building the systems and sustainability needed to support our long-term growth.
- Following a period of organizational restructuring, we are now focused on strengthening our core operations, investing in leadership, and positioning the organization for lasting impact.
- As we grow, we are seeking a Development Director (Contract) to help us expand our funding base, elevate our story, and ensure that this work continues to thrive for years to come.
- About the Role This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned fundraiser or communications professional to make a major impact in a short time by helping us refine our message, engage supporters, and expand our funding base.
- This is a three-month, part-time contract (approximately 15–20 hours per week), with the opportunity for renewal based on fundraising performance and funds secured .
- Key Responsibilities Develop and launch a 12-month fund development plan aligned with our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan.
- Strengthen Nation Outside’s fundraising infrastructure , including donor database, communications calendar, and tracking systems.
- Lead grant prospecting, writing, and reporting in partnership with the Executive Director.
- Build and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners .
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to create donor-focused messaging , newsletters, and digital appeals that tell the story of our impact.
- Support board and staff engagement in fundraising, building a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
- Qualifications Minimum of 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience (grants, individual giving, and / or communications).
- Proven track record of securing philanthropic support and building donor relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong storyteller.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Deep alignment with Nation Outside’s mission and a passion for social and economic justice.
- Lived experience with the criminal legal system is valued and encouraged.

Three (3) months, with the possibility of extension based on funds raised to sustain the role.Hours :
