American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Weirton, West Virginia.

Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with at least one year of acute care experience and BLS certification for a 13-week dayshift assignment.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care medical-surgical unit with 48 beds
  • Patient diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls or weakness
  • Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 5-7 on days and 1 : 6-8 on nights
  • Utilizes Cerner Soarian EMR system
  • 12-hour day shifts, with a requirement to work every other weekend
  • Floating required to other Med / Surg, MS-Tele, or IMC units for lower acuity patients as needed
  • No on-call or standby requirements
  • Charge nurses are present on each shift and may take patient assignments depending on staffing
  • Monitor techs handle telemetry interpretation; nurses are not expected to read telemetry strips
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • May participate in the holiday shift rotation
  • Floating and shift pull required to similar units based on facility needs
  • One day of computer system training and one day of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided
  • Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
  • No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedule is created by the manager with flexibility for RTO
  • Candidates must not have worked at any WVU Medicine location in the past two years
  • Travelers may not work within WVU Health System for longer than one year cumulatively and must then take a two-year break
  • Local travelers are not accepted per facility policy

  • Active WV or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 1 year recent acute care Med / Surg RN experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience with titratable drips such as heparin, bumex, and lasix (excluding cardiac drips)
  • Experience with Cerner Soarian charting preferred
