Veterinary Technician

Overview :

The Lester Prairie Vet Clinic, a progressive, fast paced, privately owned veterinary clinic 30 minutes west of the twin cities, is searching for a skilled and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients. This position requires a strong background in veterinary medicine and a passion for working with animals. Duties :

• Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
• Perform diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory tests
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
• Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures
• Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information
• Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment plans
• Perform basic grooming tasks, such as nail trimming
• Handle and restrain animals during examinations or procedures

Qualifications :

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification preferred

Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and medications

Proficiency in performing X-rays and laboratory tests

Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols

Excellent animal handling skills, including dog handling and restraint techniques

Experience in animal care, husbandry, and pet care

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Compassionate nature and genuine concern for animal welfare
