Building Automation Systems Technician – Data Center Infrastructure

Key Responsibilities
System Installation & Field Oversight (30%)
- Lead onsite installation and retrofitting of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC control infrastructure.
- Supervise subcontractors and coordinate construction schedules across electrical, mechanical, and specialty vendors.
- Handle on-site logistics, inventory control, safety planning, and team communications.
- Ensure wiring, terminations, and controller integrations follow project and safety specifications.
Commissioning & Systems Validation (40%)
Partner with engineering and software teams to execute system testing and troubleshooting.Participate in pre-functional and functional testing phases, ensuring smooth system transitions from install to live environment.Document QA / QC reviews and support final client handoff, including updating as-builts and verifying performance metrics.Reporting & Communication (20%)
Deliver project updates and safety reports on a daily basis.Track out-of-scope work and support change order documentation.Coordinate regularly with project managers, commissioning agents, and end clients.Engineering Support & Pre-Sales Consulting (10%)
Support pre-construction planning through site walks, audits, and technical input for proposals.Participate in bid reviews and engineering surveys for retrofits or facility upgrades.Required Experience & Skills
Strong hands-on experience with BAS platforms (Distech Controls, Tridium Niagara, or similar).Solid grasp of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems and their integration with automation systems.Experience interpreting construction documents, shop drawings, and vendor product specs.Familiarity with wiring schematics, relay logic, and low-voltage installations.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to manage digital project documentation.Excellent communication skills, able to lead site teams and interact with clients professionally.Self-starter comfortable working remotely, with the ability to stay organized and on task during travel.Physical capability to navigate job sites, including lifting up to 50 lbs and accessing equipment via ladders or confined spaces.Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or a technical field, OR 7+ years of BAS field experience.Proven leadership in installation, startup, and commissioning of BAS solutions.OSHA or NFPA70E certification preferred or willingness to obtain.Why Join This Team?
