ABOUT THE JOB
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will support the EHS Manager and site team in developing and enhancing the facility’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. The EHS Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for all plant employees through proactive safety engagement, employee coaching, and continuous improvement of safety initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Maintain a strong floor presence; engage and coach employees and contractors on safety best practices.
Apply a proactive safety philosophy to identify and mitigate risks; develop policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Enforce and ensure adherence to all facility safety, health, and environmental standards.
Lead and support Root Cause Investigations for incidents including first aid cases, near misses, and serious injuries.
Conduct or assist with equipment inspections and audits; ensure timely documentation.
Serve as a subject matter resource on applicable safety laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Collaborate with the Safety Committee to conduct hazard audits and resolve concerns.
Coordinate and participate in annual emergency drills with internal and external stakeholders.
Administer the Hazard Communication Program and maintain “Right to Know” stations with updated safety information.
Plan and deliver EHS training programs to drive compliance and employee understanding.
Identify and assess hazardous conditions; develop corrective actions to reduce risks.
Support food safety, legal compliance, and environmental standards across the facility.
Assist in emergency response efforts in accordance with the Crisis Communications and Management Guide.
Provide or become certified in First Aid per OSHA Guidelines.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Education / Certification :
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
First Aid / CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience :
2+ years in an Environmental Health & Safety role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and influence others in a team-oriented environment.
Skills :
Excellent communication and coaching skills across all levels of the organization.
Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
Competence with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment.
