Overview
The Global Facility Services (GFS) Safety & Health Section Manager leads a Global Practice within the Construction global practice. They support and execute business strategies, develop high performance teams, and promote Burns & McDonnell culture of safety as well as the BMCD mission and values across the organization. The Safety & Health Section Manager leads their section in a dynamic and resourceful manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and outstanding service.
What You Will Do
- Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
- Facilitate growth of the section; ensure staffing levels, staffing loading, and staff assignments meet project requirements while maintaining corporate, division and departmental goals.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost, and establishing critical construction and / or self-perform project objectives.
- Ensure successful project execution and achievement of safety goals defined by corporate, divisional and departmental leadership, while providing expertise to support safety and health initiatives.
- Maintain accurate communication between leadership and project management teams.
- Implement, apply and support company, global practice and / or regional office programs and initiatives; navigate and manage change within their section.
- Achieve stated targets and standards for safety performance.
- Review workload and safety reports regularly to identify improvement areas; develop solutions and implement strategies to support and improve safety & health performance.
- Manage and present project issues, status, risks, and risk mitigation communications to internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate with governmental, industry, public entities, and community relations on Safety & Health matters.
- Collaborate with business development managers, business line leads, project managers, and site staff on safe execution of work.
- Conduct project safety audits and assessments as required.
- Recruit, develop, train, and retain staff; conduct performance evaluations for department staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, architecture, construction, or related field from an accredited program and 5 years of related professional experience in design and / or project management, or equivalent experience.Previous leadership and / or management experience is preferable.Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.Ability to influence, lead, and manage change positively.Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Job Details
