Job Summary
The Hardware Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining hardware insertion equipment in a precision sheet metal manufacturing environment. This role ensures the proper installation of hardware components—such as studs, standoffs, nuts, and other fasteners—into fabricated sheet metal parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The Hardware Operator plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and supporting efficient production flow
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and part drawings to determine correct hardware specifications and placement.
Quality Assurance - Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure all hardware is correctly installed and meets quality specifications.
Visually inspect parts for proper seating, alignment, and function of installed hardware.
Safety & Housekeeping - Adhere to all safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Production Support
Support production flow by assisting other fabrication operators or departments when needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year of hardware insertion experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience in precision sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
Skills & Competencies - Ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
Familiarity with various types of hardware and correct insertion techniques.
Physical Requirements - Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and metal components.
Requires standing for long periods, repetitive hand and arm movements, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
Frequent collaboration with production, engineering, quality, and management teams is routine.
Schedule - Hours : 2 : 15 PM – 10 : 45 PM, Monday – Friday (Some flexibility may be required based on production needs).
Compensation - Hourly Range : $18-22 per hour
