Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.
Job Summary
The Biology Program in the newly formed Dr. James `Earl¿ Perry College of Mathematics, Computing, and Sciences at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Molecular Biology, beginning August 1, 2026. The biology program serves over 600 undergraduate majors, primarily focused on pre-health and environmental biology, and over 25 graduate students in master¿s (thesis and non-thesis) and post-baccalaureate biomedical certificate programs. The successful candidate will incorporate innovative approaches to teach molecular biology and biomedical courses to undergraduate and graduate students, and introductory biology courses for biology and pre-nursing students. The new faculty member will have the opportunity to develop innovative, cross-disciplinary courses in molecular biology and bioinformatics. The new faculty member is also be expected to establish an independent research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students, while actively pursuing extramural funding.
Responsibilities
1.-
Teach molecular biology and biomedical courses to undergraduate and graduate students, and introductory biology courses for biology and pre-nursing students. Opportunity to develop new courses in Molecular Biology / Bioinformatics and Biomedical Sciences. Incorporate high-impact teaching practices and experiential learning into course delivery to improve student outcomes.

Establish and maintain a funded research program in Molecular Biology that incorporates undergraduate and graduate students. Opportunity to collaborate across disciplines within the program, college, and university. Pursue scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications.

Collaborate and actively participate in service to the Program / School / College / University events (e.g., meetings, graduations, seminars), initiatives, and institutional committees.

Provide effective mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their success and timely graduation while helping them achieve their career goals.
Required Qualifications
Required Education :
Ph.D. in any Biology and related disciplines with research expertise in molecular biology, bioinformatics.
Required Experience :
Demonstrated record or potential of excellence in scholarship with peer-reviewed research publications.

Post-doctoral research experience in Molecular Biology and / or Bioinformatics. Prior teaching experience at undergraduate and / or graduate level.
