Summary : Automation Technicians are the front line "reactive" responders to solve maintenance problems that occur throughout the plant requiring troubleshooting, analyzing, problem solving, and implementation of plans and solutions; duties and tasks are performed on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated production equipment to meet all operational goals and objectives.
Job Duties
Maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of automation equipmentPerform basic troubleshooting and maintenance work on automation equipment in a manufacturing / production environmentPerform maintenance, set-up, and PM on automation equipment in Injection Molding departmentDiagnose and troubleshoot equipment related processing issuesOn-call as needed by department and able to be flexible with schedule as neededUse standard and metric hand tools to complete tasks and dutiesTroubleshoot maintenance problems that occur throughout the plant with a major emphasis on electrical problems, to include AC and DC drives, PLCs, and basic motor control circuitsElectrical duties : performing all major and minor electrical repairs including 480V 3-phase motor repairs / installation, motor starter circuit repairs, VFD drives, sensing devices, switches, e-stop circuitry, and group fault detection, read schematics and basic electrical symbol identification, understand electrical theoryMechanical duties : clean, lubricate, adjust equipment, diagnose and repair problems, read mechanical prints and PI&D drawingsMay assist with the training of other employeesAdhere to safety rules and regulations; maintain a safe and efficient work areaAssists maintenance and production staff as neededOther duties may be assigned as neededSafety
Understand and support a safety culture and workplaceRemain aware of surroundings and obtain knowledge of required PPEFollow all safety procedures for each taskKeep work area clean and organizedReport any safety concern immediately to on-shift supervisionQuality

Summary
must have 5+ years of directly related experience with strong troubleshooting abilities and high mechanical and electrical aptitude.

5+ years automation technician experience in plastics industry; experience in Injection Molding preferredMechanical, electrical, and electronic / PLC programming skills in a manufacturing environmentHS Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferredAbility to work in tight spaces and on ladders / platformsStrong understanding of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, robotics / automationUnderstanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, belts / pulleys, chains, sprocketsAbility to read schematics (electrical, mechanical), P&ID diagrams, and blueprintsExperience with Whittman and Krauss Maffei equipment preferredSoft Skills
