Application Developer - Mainframe (Contract-to-Hire)

Pay : $54.00-$57.70 / hr (W2 only).

Term : 6 months C2H

  • Start : Dec 1, 2025.

Location : Remote; preference for hybrid near Richmond or Lynchburg, VA.

Eligible States : CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, MA, MD, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NY, NV, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV.

Hours : Must work EST.

Work Auth : W2 only - No C2C / No sponsorship.

About the role :

Join our client's Long-Term Care team to build and support  CLOAS, our core mainframe policy administration system. You'll deliver enhancements, fix production issues, and collaborate across Dev / QA / BA in an Agile environment.

What you'll do :

  • Design, code, document, and test changes in COBOL, JCL, CICS, IMS.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies; size stories and break down tasks.
  • Perform unit / system / integration testing and support deployments.
  • Analyze / resolve incidents (job abends, data fixes, integrations via Web Services / MQ).
  • Partner with onshore / offshore teams; meet SLAs / change control.

    • What you need :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong hands-on COBOL, JCL, CICS, IMS and production support.
  • Solid SQL / data analysis fundamentals.
  • Proven problem-solving, attention to detail, and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Clear communicator; comfortable in Agile.

    • Nice to have :

  • Assembler; IMS DB in MVS / CICS.
  • Experience with CLOAS or LTC / insurance domain.
  • Advanced SQL; modern mainframe dev / test tools.
  • Managed services / onshore-offshore model.
