The Steamboat Springs Police Department is now accepting applications for Police Officer with a Fall 2024 CLETA Academy sponsorship. The 2024 Fall CLETA begins in August 2024. This is a Police Officer position, for which the selected candidate will be paid a weekly training wage of $24.48 / hour while attending the CLETA Academy. When the Academy is successfully completed, the starting base wage for Police Officer is $38.86 / hour. Police Officer salary range is from $80,839 - $108,684. The Steamboat Springs Police Department is looking for an energetic and team-oriented person to fill the position of Police Officer Recruit. The person who occupies this position will be an integral part of promoting and maintaining the high level of professionalism and community focused actions of the Steamboat Springs Police Department. Police officers work ten-hour shifts in a team concept. Advancement through the pay range is based on a skills-based progression that may be achieved in as few as five years. Our police officer recruits earn a weekly training wage while attending the academy with full-time benefits. The City of Steamboat Springs will cover the cost of tuition and all academy related costs, including room / board. Upon successful completion of the academy and Colorado POST Certification, individuals will transition from the recruit training assignment to a police officer position. A Field Training Program supports new officers as they operationalize their academy experience and put their knowledge, skills and abilities into action on our patrol team.
