Deputy Investigator

Under the general supervision of the Adult Sex Crimes Supervisor(s), the Deputy Investigator performs duties related to criminal investigations of sex crimes and related allegations.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Receive and monitor C.O.D.I.S. (Combined DNA Index System) offender notification letter(s)
• Adhere to State law as it relates to the timely documentation of DNA collection attempts
• Potential interview of suspects
• Prepares detailed reports
• Subpoena medical records, therapy records, and any other items needed for case presentation
• Testifies in court
• Executes search warrants
• Conducts surveillance
• Assists other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations
• Performs other assignments and duties as required and / or necessary

Minimum Requirements :

Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer

A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement

A minimum of (2) years prior patrol and / or criminal investigative experience with any law enforcement agency.

Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License

Must present a professional image

Knowledge of :

Texas Penal Code

Skilled In :

Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Proficient in the use of Superion / RMS, JIMS, CAD, DIMS, and JOTS computer systems

Strong communication skills both oral and written

Strong organizational skills

Ability To :

Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines

Work independently as well as in a team environment

Preferences :

Bilingual

General Information :

This is a part-time temporary position. This position may end at any time based on the needs of the department.

Benefits : This is a part-time temporary position without benefits.

Hours : A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week. Hours are based on the needs of the department. Possibly including weekends and holidays.
