Job Title : Setup Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Setup Machinist to join our team, responsible for setting up and operating CNC turning centers, including DMG MORI and Hitachi Seiki machines. The role involves modifying existing programs, inspecting tools and parts, and ensuring precision in part production. Communication with management regarding any delays or issues is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate DMG MORI or Hitachi Seiki CNC turning centers.
  • Modify existing programs at the machine using G code or DMG MORI programming software.
  • Inspect tools and parts regularly to ensure precision.
  • Communicate any delays, issues, or concerns to management.
  • Ensure measuring equipment is accurate by using the standard in the inspection room.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive hands-on experience in the setup and operation of CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with selecting, maintaining, and using various cutting tools and fixtures.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve machining issues.
  • Ability to program CNC machines from scratch.
  • Skilled in selecting optimal tool path strategies, including feeds, speeds, and depths of cuts.
  • High attention to detail, capable of maintaining tight tolerances.
  • Advanced knowledge of shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Strong ability to interpret and understand complex technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Versatility in operating both CNC vertical machining centers and turning centers is highly preferred.
  • Experience in implementing process improvements and efficiencies.

    Work Environment

    The role is based in a machine shop environment with a 1st shift schedule from 7 AM to 3 : 30 PM. The CNC crew usually starts at 6 AM. The facility is climate-controlled, fostering a comfortable and family-friendly atmosphere.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $83200.00 / yr.
