Nurse Assistant

About Our Unit

Join our fast-paced 23-bed surgical unit, caring for post-operative patients who do not require telemetry. Our team specializes in hip and knee replacements, spine and orthopedic procedures, bariatrics, hysterectomies, general surgeries, and trauma cases. As a Center of Excellence for Orthopedics and Bariatrics, we offer a strong rapid recovery programmany joint replacement patients return home the day after surgery. This is a great opportunity to build your skills on a high-performing, patient-centered team.

What You'll Do

  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

Education / Experience Required

  • To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following : Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary : Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)). Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing. Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license Medical Assistant program (with or without experience). At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred
  • Certifications / Licensures Required

  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
  • Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
