Job Description

The Dallas ISD Alternative Certification Curriculum Coordinator will be responsible for the successful design, development, and evaluation of appropriate curriculum aligned with the Texas Administrative Code for educator preparation programs. The Coordinator will analyze, prepare, determine, and supervise the development of training content based on Texas Administrative Code and research, ensuring compliance with individual state standards. The position reports to the Manager within the alternative certification program.

Responsibilities include :

  • Ensuring that assigned curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development conform to federal, state, and district guidelines per TAC Code 228.
  • Reviewing and implementing all requirements aligned with 19 TAC Chapter 228, Requirements for Educator Preparation Programs.
  • Developing individualized scope and sequences that align with designated certification pathways.
  • Collaborating with administrative staff to develop, coordinate, and deliver professional growth activities in content and program areas.
  • Maintaining 100% accurate records of candidates' course training hours.
  • Working with district-level, regional representatives, and state compliance officers to evaluate and improve programs.
  • Creating curriculum presentations, surveys, and vetting documents to analyze curriculum effectiveness.
  • Assisting alternative certification teachers in obtaining instructional materials for curriculum development and implementation as needed.
  • Building, implementing, and improving systems and processes for training and supporting effective teacher candidates.
  • Collecting and analyzing teacher performance data to identify trends, address issues, and adjust training and support accordingly.

All federally funded incumbents must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate.
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in an urban setting, with demonstrated classroom success.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements from Human Capital Management, Alternative Certification.
  • Self-monitoring of performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Ability to provide fast, friendly, and flexible customer service to stakeholders.
