AMN has partnered with a large health system in Dallas, TX to support the recruitment of a clinical pharmacist for a specialized position within its Emergency Department. This is a full-time opportunity with overnight shifts available, following a 7 on / 7 off schedule in a fast-paced, high-acuity care environment.
Position Overview
This role plays a critical function on the emergency care team, supporting real-time medication management during high-risk clinical situations, including trauma, resuscitations, behavioral emergencies, and sepsis alerts. The pharmacist will provide bedside response, verify complex medication orders, and serve as a resource for pediatric and adult pharmacotherapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the ED care team to optimize pharmacologic therapy for emergent and critically ill patients
- Perform real-time medication verification and support safe, evidence-based medication use
- Respond to bedside emergencies, including resuscitation events and high-acuity pediatric cases
- Provide pharmacotherapy recommendations, including medication selection, dosing, and monitoring
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and labeling of urgent-use medications
- Deliver discharge counseling for patients prescribed emergency rescue medications
- Support education of interdisciplinary staff, including precepting pharmacy students and residents
- Participate in protocol development, Epic order set review, and hospital-wide quality initiatives
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent from an accredited programLicensed as a pharmacist in Texas (or willing to begin the Texas licensure process immediately; may take up to 3 months)Minimum of 1 year of hospital-based pharmacy experienceACPE-accredited 20-hour sterile IV compounding certificationBasic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (required within 90 days of hire)Preferred Qualifications
