Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality dental care to our young patients. You will assist the dentist in various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure a welcoming environment for children and their families. Your expertise in pediatric dentistry and familiarity with dental practices will be essential in delivering exceptional care.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Educate patients and their families on proper dental hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Maintain infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Manage appointment scheduling and assist with administrative tasks as needed, including medical documentation and coding.
- Utilize dental terminology effectively when communicating with patients and team members.
- Stay current with developments in pediatric dentistry, including techniques such as 3D scanning and medical imaging.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a dental clinic setting, particularly in pediatric dentistry, is preferred.Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable.Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is essential.Familiarity with general dentistry procedures including prosthodontics and endodontics is a plus.Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children and their guardians.Ability to work well within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.Commitment to providing excellent patient care while adhering to HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
