Position Overview :
The Town of Avon, Colorado, is accepting applications for a Swim Coach II - Part-Time / Year-Round
The Swim Coach II - Part-Time / Year-Round
is responsible for providing leadership, direction, hands-on development and implementation with the objective to yield the highest attainable levels of excellence in instruction, as well as individual and team performance for the Recreational Swimming program. This position assists with developing and coaching members of the swim team under the USA swimming guidelines.

Essential Functions :
- Assists the Swim Program Supervisor with training, teaching, and scheduling swim lessons, private
swim lessons, and administrative duties.
Assists the Swim Program Supervisor with the coaching and development of the recreational swimprogram including writing swim workout plans with little to no oversight in line with the training schedule
Teaches private swim lessons when needed.Monitors participants and their ability to participate.Provides feedback to learn to swim class participants and proper instruction in the use of supportmaterials.
Communicates and interacts effectively with class participants and members of the public.Issues Learn-To-Swim completion certificates and updates files at front desk.Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to preventaccidents.
Demonstrates adaptability when an alternative to in-water swim practice needs to be provided, such asdry land workouts, team-building activities and educational activities.
Acts as the main point of contact for swim participants and their parents at off-site swim meets andevents.
Reports damage to equipment and / or injuries to participants by completing an Incident Report formwhen necessary and submitting it the Swim Program Supervisor in a timely manner.
Educates participants to safe habits and attitudes around aquatic areas and at the Avon RecreationCenter.

A minimum of 18 years of age and training in teaching Learn-To-Swimclasses is required. A minimum of one-year experience in competitive swim coaching is preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence of required knowledge, skills and abilities. Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and may be subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing as outline in the Towns Drug & Alcohol PolicySpecial Requirements : The Town reserves the right to suspend or extend the posting deadline based on receipt of qualified candidates.
