Position Title :
Robinson - Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern - Food Manufacturing
Location : Robinson, IL
Duration : Spring 2026 - Spring 2027 (Part-time during the school year, Full-time during the summer)
Position Summary :
Join our team to support the implementation and continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs within a dynamic food manufacturing facility. This internship offers hands-on experience in identifying risks, promoting a safety-first culture, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards that are critical to food production operations.
Position Requirements :
- Education : Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, Food Science, or a related field.
- Experience : No prior experience required; exposure to manufacturing or food production environments is a plus.
Skills / Certifications :
Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environmentProficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis toolsFamiliarity with safety programs such as Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Preferred :

Conduct routine inspections of production areas to identify physical, chemical, and biological hazards specific to food manufacturing.Support the implementation of corrective actions to mitigate risks and enhance worker safety and product integrity.Assist in evaluating sanitation practices, allergen controls, and hygiene protocols from an EHS perspective.Help interpret and apply OSHA and EPA regulations within the context of food production.Participate in the development and delivery of safety training programs tailored to food manufacturing operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Operations) to support safe process changes, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.Maintain and update EHS documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS), incident reports, and environmental permits.Assist in conducting internal audits and preparing for external inspections related to safety and environmental compliance.Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across all shifts and departments.
