Bereavement Counselor- Supervisor

Day, 8am - 5pm

May be required to work 1-2 evenings a week.

JOB SUMMARY : Provides bereavement support services and manages designated programs and staff.

SUPERVISES : Adult Services bereavement counselors at all locations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Assists with review of all referrals, distribution of initial bereavement materials, and scheduling contacts.

Reviews incoming calls and requests for adult bereavement services and assigns bereavement counselor to follow up.

Assesses bereaved adults to determine level of service for bereavement support.

Addresses high-risk needs and assures timely ongoing assessment of bereaved individual's needs.

Makes bereavement visits as needed.

Assesses needs of grieving children, adolescents, and or families when requested.

Plans and facilitates support groups.

Available for counseling needs in times of crisis to both hospice families as well as community bereaved.

Participates in planning and implementation of commemorative events and year round bereavement programs.

Responds to community inquiries and requests for education and support.

Serves as a clinical resource to bereavement volunteers, oversees their orientation and training activities in Pathways programs. Also serves as a resource and support to bereaved volunteers.

Oversees the planning and coordination of all Adult Service groups, events and services; monitoring staff as needed.

Communicates program information to administrative supervisor and other departments as needed for publicity and coordination of events.

Attends weekly interdisciplinary meetings and offers anticipatory grief and bereavement resources, education and consultation to team members.

Contributes statistical data for timely and accurate reports reflecting departmental activities.

Assures timely, accurate and appropriate documentation of bereavement contacts.

Confers with Bereavement Director to identify and develop new programs.

Contributes to bereavement materials.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Interview and oversee orientation of new Adult Services counselors as needed.

Monitor staff compliance with documentation requirements.

Conduct Adult Services staff meetings.

Conduct periodic individual supervision with staff as needed and annual performance evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Master's degree in counseling or health related area with training / experience in grief and bereavement required.

Supervisory experience required

Able to listen, assess needs, and counsel bereaved persons individually and in group settings.

Able to communicate effectively, build positive relationships and demonstrate confidence with business and community professionals.

Ability to use computer; basic understanding of Microsoft Office required

Must be able to move about freely in all types of settings, all of which may not be required to be accessible.

We offer a full range of benefits including :

• Must work a minimum of 64 hours per two-week pay period
